The National Council of Canadian Tamils takes legal action against defamation, slander and libel


The National Council of Canadian Tamils (NCCT) is a national organization, composed of representatives from across Canada elected through a free, fair, and independent election monitored by third party observers. The Council was founded in 2010, to assist Tamil Canadians integrate into the Canadian mainstream and thereby become productive and loyal citizens of Canada. Its main focus is to actively participate in civic institutions and strengthen Canadian Tamils participation in the democratic and political fabric of Canada.

In recent months, NCCT has been made aware of individuals who have launched unsubstantiated innuendos and slander on the organization to advance their own particular interests.

The NCCT has initiated legal action and is pursuing its remedy through the courts. It is represented by the law firm of Sack Goldblatt Mitchell LLP. Despite attempts to interfere with the legitimate participation of Canadian Tamils, the NCCT will work towards engaging citizens around important issues" states Krisna Saravanamuttu, NCCT National Spokesperson.
