Tamil Canadians Condemn Recent Murders in Toronto

Toronto – Tamil Canadians condemn the senseless violence which has taken
the lives of two young community members in less than two weeks.

"We denounce these senseless murders," said David Poopalapillai, National
Spokesperson for the Canadian Tamil Congress. “Our hearts and prayers are
with the victims’ families and we urge any Canadians with information,
including the Tamil Canadian community, to come forward and reach out to
law enforcement officials to bring closure to these despicable acts.”

The Canadian Tamil Congress reached out to both of the families and shared
its condolences.

"Many Tamil families came to Canada so that their children could have a
better life, for all the families, it’s a heartbreaking moment,” Mr.
Poopalapillai said.

These deaths in Toronto are particular difficult for community members as
they deal with the deaths of thousands of their relatives in Sri Lanka,
Mr. Poopalapillai said.

Anyone with information on the murders are strongly urged to contact
police at 416-808-7400, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477),
online at www.222tips.com, or text TOR and your message to CRIMES(274637).
