PREMIER HOPES FOR PEACEFUL RESOLUTION IN SRI LANKA

Ontario’s Thoughts And Prayers With The Community

NEWS

The Ontario government is deeply concerned about the current conflict in Sri Lanka.

In 2006, Premier Dalton McGuinty’s daughter Carleen spent several months as an aid worker in Sri Lanka. She volunteered through UNICEF and World University Services Canada. Her experience gave the entire McGuinty family a strong understanding of the issues in strife-torn Sri Lanka.

Ontario is committed to the promotion, protection and advancement of human rights, where all persons are valued and treated with dignity. The loss of innocent lives is never acceptable and the Ontario government hopes this conflict will soon come to a peaceful and speedy end.

Ontario supports the Government of Canada’s call for a ceasefire in Sri Lanka.
