Tamils Auschwitz - Release Illegally- Imprisoned thousands of Tamils from Srilankan Govt.

It’s been more than 18 months since the bloody genocidal war was over in Srilanka against Tamils. After the war the Srilankan army and government imprisoned the entire population lived under the eelam land which was assured to them by the peace negotiations brokered by Norway.

Children, Elders,Women, Wounded, Disabled and others were imprisoned illegally by the Government of Srilanka (GoSL). The Srilankan Govt doesn’t yield to the international pressure and still keep them in the inhuman conditions, despite the Timesonline of UK reported atleast 1400 people were killed every week during 2009.

The male adults who are separated from their families and put in a separate intern camps were not accounted for their lives yet. These camps for both men and others are more gruesome and inhuman in every possible way. Those who are released from the camps are disabled, elders and malnourished and were not allowed to settle in their own land or at their home or at least in their villages. We are regularly receiving information about the harassments on the women, children and men living in the camps and most of them are worst than the crimes committed either in AbuGharib or in Guantanamo Internment.

The worst part in this internment is the Silent Genocide on Tamils.

It’s worth to mention this is the Tamils Auschwitz. We have already presented the number of deaths happened during the war to the UN but we yet to get to know how many are killed during the internment or postwar crimes. There are numerous reports were reported in the international media and even European Union withdrew its trade concessions GSP+ which is lifeline of Srilanka’s export business.

The tamil community of srilanka already lost about 147,000 civilians during the 2 year long war, and the community still has to come to terms with the trauma caused by the inhumane war of GoSL, and its very unfair for them to get suffer under the inhumane conditions in an internment camp, as this is insult to the civilized world.

Lets raise our voice and defeat the modern day Hitler and protect those voiceless Srilankan Eelam tamils. And its duty of the international community to come forward and make the GoSL to release all those IDPs (Internally Displaced People) and resettle them in their own town and in their own home.

Since independence from Britain in 1948, thousands of Tamils have been ethnically cleansed by the state from their traditional lands in the North-East of the island to make way for state-aided Sinhalese colonisation. In 1956, Sinhala was made the sole official language to the exclusion of Tamil.

Since 1956, state-sponsored pogroms targeting Tamil civilians have resulted in thousands of Murders, Rapes and Properties being Destroyed. In 1981, the Jaffna Library, which housed over 95,000 Tamil books including many irreplaceable manuscripts, was burned to the ground by government forces in an act aimed to erase the cultural heritage of the Tamils.

Since the inception of war in 1983, tens of thousands of Tamil civilians have been Murdered, Raped and Tortured by government forces with complete impunity. In the first 5 months of 2009 alone, over 40,000 Tamil civilians were massacred by the Sri Lankan army in the Vanni region. Killing of nearly 2,00,000 Innocents, War Crimes, Ongoing Slaughter on the Journalists, Moderates, Reformists, Artists and having opposition leader behind the bars make the Srilanka as a criminal and a Failed State.

The Tamil people have suffered over 60 years of oppression and acts of genocide. We fervently believe that the Tamil people have a right to self-determination and that they should be able to freely determine their own political status in their traditional homeland in the North-East of Sri Lanka.

The recent detainment of 3,00,000 Tamil civilians in concentration camps for months on end is the latest form of inhumane treatment being meted out to the Tamils.

Sri Lanka: IDPs and returnees remain in need of protection and assistance

http://www.internal-displacement.org/countries/srilanka

The Tamil people of Sri Lanka have suffered over 60 years of oppression and acts of genocide at the hands of successive Governments of Sri Lanka on the basis of their ethnicity.

The Tamil people have a right to self-determination and that they should be able to freely determine their own political status in their traditional homeland in the North-East of Sri Lanka. An UN referendum should be held in the North-East just as was done in Kosovo and East Timor to let the people living there freely decide how they would like to be governed.

The GoSL should ends its occupation of the Tamil areas and accept the wishes of those who live there by immediately withdrawing the occupying Sri Lankan army.

There should be an independent, international inquiry into all the alleged human rights violations and war crimes committed by all parties in the conflict in 2009. Accountability for war crimes must be ensured and perpetrators must be prosecuted and brought to justice, internationally if required.

The British government’s role in arming, funding and abetting the GoSL to fight this war against the Tamil people is abhorrent. Their silence and lack of condemnation for the GoSL violations of human rights and war crimes is a sign of their complicity in the atrocities.

The detention of hundreds of thousands of Tamil civilians in concentration camps is inhumane and unjustified and should cease immediately.

All civilians that have been evicted from their ancestral lands in the North-East should have a right to return, and that the GoSL should cease the grabbing of land from the Tamil speaking people by Sinhalese colonists.

The media freedom should be upheld throughout the island. Aid agencies and human rights monitors must be given full access to the camps.

The EU’s decision to not revoke the GSP+ concession despite Sri Lanka failing to comply with the human rights criteria needed to qualify is hypocritical and puts the EU’s credibility into question.

Witnesses also confirmed allegations made to us that whole villages have been emptied and neighbourhoods have been driven by the army from their homes and occupations and turned into refugees...We can say, without doubt, that the Government is driving Tamils from their homes and does intend to settle Sinhalese people in these areas.
