TAK passes 25 resolutions in its 60th anniversary meeting

The General Committee of Thamizh Arasuk Kadchi (TAK) met Sunday in Jaffna on the 60th anniversary of its formation and passed 25 resolutions unanimously on issues related to Tamils, sources in Jaffna said. TAK said that it continues to stand firm that the Tamil ethnic issue should be resolved on the principles based on Tamil traditional homeland, Tamil Nation and self-rule based on the right to self-determination. The leader of Tamil National Alliance (TNA), R. Sampanthan presided the meeting which was held in the I’lam Kalaignar Hall in Nalloor.

More than 600 persons including TAK members and supporters in Jaffna peninsula participated in the meeting. TAK parliamentarians and supporters representing Vavuniyaa, Trincomalee and Batticaloa also attended the meeting-

Some of the resolutions passed are:

The infrastructures of North and East which had been destroyed during the 30 year war should be rebuilt.

Livelihoods should be found for the people of Vanni.

Employment opportunities should be created.

People should get back what they had lost and be allowed to live in peace.

Families displaced due to HSZs should be resettled in their own places.

Resettlement of internally displaced persons should be carried out under the supervision of UN.

It was decided in the meeting that the 25 resolutions passed should be made known to Sri Lanka government and the International Community.
