‘Saturn becomes state deity of Sri Lanka’

Reports reaching from Colombo indicate that the saturnine rulers of Sri Lanka, panicked at the transit of the planet Saturn said to be taking place this week, has geared up the state to undertake propitiatory measures. In this respect, the Malayala mandriks have become more powerful in Sri Lankan affairs than the prelates of the Buddhist chapters, commented journalist circles in Colombo.

The planet Saturn takes roughly 30 years to make a round in its orbit and in the process it spends roughly two and a half years in each of the 12 signs.

According to fixed zodiac (nirayana) calculations of the South Asian almanacs the Planet Saturn is transiting from the sign of Leo to the sign of Virgo on Thursday early hours. Almanacs differ in date and time, depending on the precession rate adopted by them. According to some of them the transit already took place on August 30th.

“Whatever the case may be, the gullible ruling class of Colombo is panicked whether this is going to mark a change of tide for them,” commented a senior journalist.

More than what is astrologically predicted, the reaction of the Colombo government to imprison astrologers has created more panic among the lot inebriated with triumphalism, the journalist said.

“Rulers of Colombo, quite typical of the diplomacy they played with greedy powers, have decided to lure the planets also to their side by propitiatory measures and Saturn has almost become the deity of Sri Lanka this week,” the journalist further said.

“It is no wonder as in the neighbourhood there is precedence for one politician to change the colour of his shawl and another to bring in elephants to appease the planets, but where do we head for, amidst such royal fantasies of the new monarchies that have taken over South Asia as family property is the worry of the people,” commented the journalist.
